What Freud Can Teach Us About Item Upgrading

Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on big-ticket drops or trade.  item upgrader  will show you how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment grant an increase in the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons stronger. You can acquire them by destroying enemies, finding them in item spheres, or buying them from karma merchants. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them or by using an advanced salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to boost the value of an upgradeable item or they can be used to boost the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be made to offer additional benefits. A glyph that is crafted can boost the chance of upgrading its target, while an upgrade boosts the defense or attack capabilities of the weapon.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show a list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. Alternatively, you can use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded after enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item will gain when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components give more experience multipliers than mechanical ones. It is recommended to upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item comes with an upgrade limit number that can be received. The number of upgrades available is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the type of upgrade for the upgradeable item. For example, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a tier 10 weapon. However, the most common upgrades for weapons are an tier 6 weapon as well as an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a set of items that share the same bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once, and the upgrade increases the guaranteed bonuses. When you first upgrade an item or set piece, it will receive a +1 increase to its primary stat. Following upgrades, the primary stats are enhanced even more (for instance +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded one of its additional stats increases randomly.

Upgrades can also increase a weapon's damage base. This may be important for certain builds. Weapons cannot be upgraded for an increased maximum defence roll than their base. Upgrades can be a great option to increase the value of some set and unique items, however it is important to keep in mind that they might not be better than a high-level runeword in any build.

If you're upgrading an item that has bonuses, the item can be rerolled once, and its guarantee will reset to 0. The same power dies are used to roll an item as it is used to increase its level. However the new item comes with different bonuses. The NPC [Armor] Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you'll need a power die of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. These are available at the crafting table or the Ultra Collector and can be purchased using Gold. The NPC will also give an extra reward for every tier that is completed of the upgrade process. The reward can be rerolled a single time using the same materials as original item.

Rerolling

If players have enough to reroll tokens, they are able to reroll any item that they have acquired during the game. If an upgraded item is to be rerolled, it will be exchanged for the level 1 version of the same item in another set. Reroll tokens are sold in the shop for a small sum of in-game currency. They are non-refundable. The upgraded item will have the same benefits of the previous one however its stats will differ also.

In addition to rerolling objects, players can also change the identity of any equipment by engaging with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identity from a weapon to armor or vice versa, while retaining its base stats and required attributes. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that own the gear in question.

The player can also upgrade the level of an item for any equipment that is equipped. This is done by interacting with an upgrader NPC and obtaining upgrade components. It will cost a specific amount of crests as well as Valorstones according to the upgrade track and type. Each step will add an additional 5% of damage to weapons.

Upgrades can boost the power of an item, but they can also reduce the quality of an item. It is therefore important to find a balance between the two. Some items are not worth upgrading, whereas others require upgrading to make them more effective. For example, a player might want to upgrade a piece of breakpoint armor with an interesting modifier ( percent chance of blocking or FHR) to explore the possibilities of what it can be.

Rerolling is a popular practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People do it to gain access to a character or weapon they would not otherwise be able to acquire. These items can be expensive and time-consuming, and the RNG gods aren't always willing to play ball. The only choices left is to shell out real money or grind lots. This is why rerolling is a popular option in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can choose whether to upgrade the weapon or armor when upgrading an item. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe this feature was created to give value to expensive and rare items. However, as most items are replaced quite quickly, and it can only be upgraded by one level, you'll typically replace it before it becomes too old. It's not worth it to upgrade items that have gem sockets because the power of the gem will outweigh the higher ilvl that comes with the upgrade.

You will see a small box when you click on the upgrade option for an item. It will show the item's template, the Crest, as well as the Valorstone cost to raise the level of the item. The costs will vary between the armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template lists the stats that will be added to the upgraded item. It also lists its current ilvl.

The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the item's current ilvl as well as the upgrade template. The ilvl is also reduced by the upgrade template's lvl reduction percentage. For example an upgrade of 8% will decrease the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 8percent.

In addition to the base ilvl increase the item will also get upgrades in other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damage and dodge, block, and parry rating. The increases are also dependent on the upgrade template.

The amount of defense and damage the item receives when leveled up can be seen below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons, except practice equipment, get these stats once they've been leveled up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly rolled version of a piece of armor or weapon able to command much higher trade values than non-upp'd versions. The same applies to other armor pieces, like tiaras and circlets.
